Learning to tie shoelaces
Why not try fastening shoelaces the same way as our Tree Topper, Thomas! Isn’t he just the best!
Tying shoelaces is hard because it requires complex hand coordination.
A child must use both hands differently at the same time, control small finger movements, and remember a long sequence of steps.
Remember, break the steps down.
Step 1 – Insert the tip of the lace into the top hole on the same side to form a loop. Repeat on the other side.
Step 2 – Cross the loops over and tie a half knot.
Step 3 – Repeat half knot and pull tight.
